This blog is an account of Jacob and Mike's (Skippy) cross-country trip to move Jacob from Chicago, IL to Irvine, CA. We decided we'd document the trip by making a blog post for every hundred miles we drove, in addition to anything else of interest. There is a map that I made with a thumb tack in each place where we wrote a blog post.

Running low

8:00 PM MDT | N37°28'48" W112°30'51"

Battery's running low on the laptop and I can't find the power cord, so this will have to be brief. The highlight of this stretch was that we left the interstate system and we've been taking state highways. I remember hearing once that when the interstates got put in, it really hurt the local towns that weren't on them; I don't know if that's true but it's certainly consistent with the towns we've been seeing.

We pulled off to the side of the road at one point when Mike saw a stream, and he took a little swim in it. We've got video, maybe we'll post it. The landscape is changing considerably, from arid to forest, though we're still in very hilly area. We're also still in Utah but we're getting close to the Arizona border, so I think we're still on schedule to be able to do the Grand Canyon tomorrow morning and Las Vegas tomorrow evening.
