This blog is an account of Jacob and Mike's (Skippy) cross-country trip to move Jacob from Chicago, IL to Irvine, CA. We decided we'd document the trip by making a blog post for every hundred miles we drove, in addition to anything else of interest. There is a map that I made with a thumb tack in each place where we wrote a blog post.

We know it's hard civic, and we support you

We stopped in Denver and had a nice walk and coffee break at Metropolitan Mudd, where we upload our recent posts, stretched, and just generally relaxed. Oh, and yes, I did get that cookie.* The geography is getting a lot more interesting. I've been doing little more than taking pictures since we left Denver and head west into the Rockies.

The civic seems quite a bit less than thrilled about the terrain than we are. We just pulled off to get gas and read the car owner's manual for some tips on driving in severally hilly conditions and we learned how to use all of those extra positions on the automatic transmission shifter. Despite our best efforts the car's acceleration is still really bad and going down hill feels a lot like we're falling down a wet mountain in a slightly controlled manner.

We are currently driving through a long tunnel under the mountains. We've been driving up and down the sides of the rockies for the past hour or so now and it's beautiful. It seems now, I can't snap photos fast enough to capture everything I want. It's amazing Colorado borders Nebraska.

* Two in fact, and a strawberry smoothie.
